This synopsis is being posted to the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) has a requirement to conduct trade-off studies on acoustic projector elements for a new array design using single crystal and textured ceramic transduction materials and evaluate new innovative array technology for the NUWCDIVNPT Technology Refresh Program. NUWCDIVNPT intends to award a Firm Fixed Price purchase order on a sole source basis to Image Acoustics, Inc., 56 Margin St., Cohasset, MA (CAGE Code 8T485). Image Acoustics, Inc. is the sole source because they have developed proprietary transduction technology and patents for NUWCDIVNPT's Technology Refresh Program. As a result of this proprietary technology, they are the only company that can perform these trade studies. Image Acoustics owns the patents on the technology and has proprietary models for performance predictions on the acoustic projectors. The period of performance will be one (1) year. F.O.B. Destination: Newport, RI. This requirement is an unrestricted sole source procurement as concurred with by the NUWCIDVNPT Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP). The NAICS code 541330; the size standard is $15M. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement which will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
