The Enterprise Sourcing Group (ESG) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base is responsible for managing strategic sourcing for 71 Air Force bases across the continental United States. To engage with current and potential industry partners, ESG is hosting a two-day event in October 2011 aimed at educating and informing attendees about the growing role of strategic sourcing within the U.S. Air Force and highlighting current and future business opportunities. The event’s agenda includes briefings on organizational and commodity council activities, opportunities to network with contracting officers and squadron representatives, and discussions emphasizing the role of small businesses within Air Force procurement. Attendees will have the chance to provide input on sourcing strategies and identify potential cost-saving measures. ESG’s scope covers a wide range of products and services including civil engineering, force protection, IT, medical services, furnishings, office supplies, fitness equipment, domestic shipping, and advisory services. The group also manages contracting support for several Air Force agencies such as the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment, the Civil Engineering Support Agency, and medical support agencies. Co-sponsored by the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association, this event serves purely informational and planning purposes and is not tied to any specific contract solicitation.
