Bow Habitat Station provides more than 200,000 Albertans with access to experiential environmental education opportunities. Located within the public Discovery Centre, Bow Habitat Station’s Aquariums are a key educational feature for its visitors of all ages and abilities. The 12 flow-through aquaria provide a home to 100+ fish of 20+ freshwater species including lotidae, minnow, perch, pike, salmonid, sculpin, sturgeon and suckers. This project will enable the ongoing care and maintenance of aquaria and freshwater fish species by: a. Following established biosecurity protocols for the facility as outlined in the Fish Health Management Plan for Bow Habitat Station. b. Providing routine cleaning, monitoring and maintenance of 12 flow-through aquaria and their equipment systems. c. Monitoring, maintaining and recording water quality and fish health to a diverse number of freshwater fish species. d. Coordinating and procuring approved feed and treatment(s) for fish to ensure quality health. e. Communicating regularly with the Contract Manager regarding aquaria and fish health, including but not limited to movement of fish tanks, treatment of fungi/parasites and mortalities.
