Environmental Review No. 8982- Shaver Lake Area Fire Escape Routes Improvements

The project proposes to improve fire escape routes located in the Shaver Lake area. The scope of work includes grading, leveling, and placing dirt or gravel on sections of the designated fire routes where needed to ensure smooth passage for two-wheel drive vehicles. Minimum improved route widths are to be 12' wide. Aggregate base and asphalt grindings will be placed where needed. Nearby water drainage facilities will be inspected, cleared, and improved or repaired so that drainage is away from travel routes and minimizes erosion and flooding damage. This may include riprap, water bars, and check dams, culvert crossings, or other work as needed. Vegetation will be cleared up to a minimum of 12' wide and 14' high. High visibility directional signage and crash gates will be installed at key intersections. Other minor appurtenant work may be completed as necessary.
