USAID plans to invest over five years in supporting the Government of the Republic of Zambia’s (GRZ) vision of creating a healthy and productive population by targeting a 50 percent reduction in tuberculosis (TB)-related mortality in selected provinces by the end of 2019. The contractor selected for this TB control initiative will collaborate closely with the GRZ, the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP), private sector entities, and community-level partners to enhance the implementation of the national TB response. Key efforts will include working on policies and guidelines at the national level, as well as implementing TB control activities in six focus provinces: Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, Copperbelt, Central, and North-Western. The intervention will prioritize high-burden and underserved populations, including prisoners, children, and people living with HIV, with infection control and intensified case finding as critical components across the program. The solicitation for this contract is a full and open competition under FAR Part 15, inviting all nongovernmental organizations to submit proposals within a 38-day window following the release of the request for proposals in October 2014. USAID will distribute procurement information primarily via the internet, ensuring transparency and access. This initiative builds upon prior USAID TB investments in Zambia and aims to strengthen the overall TB response infrastructure at multiple levels to achieve the ambitious mortality reduction target through coordinated and comprehensive interventions.
