The State University of New York (SUNY) is seeking to establish multiple contracts with highly qualified executive search and recruitment firms to support its various campuses and institutions across New York State. The procurement aims to identify organizations with proven expertise in academic recruitment, screening, and a commitment to fostering diverse candidate pools. While the contracts will serve SUNY System Administration, University Centers, Health Centers, Comprehensive Institutions, Doctoral Granting Institutions, and Technical Institutions, community colleges have the flexibility to select from any sector list. Bidders are required to submit separate proposals for each sector they wish to serve, and awardees will be pre-qualified to contract with SUNY, though winning a contract does not guarantee specific service awards. The procurement process emphasizes sector-specific engagement, with a three-year contract term and a total project value ranging from $500,000 to $5,000,000. The solicitation, posted on June 13, 2025, with a response deadline of July 15, 2025, is open to businesses across all New York State counties. Notably, the contract does not set MWBE, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business, or Disadvantaged-Owned Sub-Contracting goals. Past experience indicates that similar contracts have been awarded to out-of-state vendors such as Purplegator, Storbeck Search, RPA Inc., Academic Search, AGB Search, Isaacson Miller, and Diversified Search Group within the last five years. The primary contact for this procurement is Nicholas Marini, Strategic Sourcing Manager, reachable via email or phone.

Full Description

The State University of New York (SUNY) wishes to procure a pool of highly effective executive search and recruitment services for State-operated campuses. Current guidelines for State-operated president searches state that: “The Chancellor (or the Chancellor’s representative) shall provide a list of nationally recognized organizations (e.g., search firms) with established expertise in academic recruitment and screening, as well as a commitment to developing diverse candidate pools, from which the council shall select one to assist in their search. The campus may elect to use a search firm not on this list with approval from the Chancellor (or the Chancellor’s representative).”   SUNY intends to award multiple contracts for the provision of these services. Contracts awarded from this RFP will pre-qualify the awardees as eligible to individually contract with SUNY campuses, including SUNY System Administration. Contract award, however, will not guarantee that an awardee will receive all or any portion of the executive search and recruitment services that may be solicited by SUNY.  SUNY will be taking a sector approach to the awarding of contracts for this procurement that includes SUNY System Administration, University Centers and Health Centers, Comprehensive Institutions and other Doctoral Granting Institutions, and Technical Institutions. Community Colleges may purchase from any sector list in this contract should they choose to do so.  Bidders must submit separate proposals for each sector for which they are interested in being considered for award.    Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Set Aside: No Total MWBE Participation Goals: 0% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Contracting Goal: 0% Disadvantaged Owned Sub-Contracting Goal: 0% Due date:07/15/2025 4:00 PM Contract term: 3 years County(ies): All NYS counties Location: All NYS Counties Business entities awarded an identical or substantially similar procurement contract within the past five years: These goods or services have been purchased from an out-of-state/foreign vendor within the past three years.
