The U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command is conducting a market survey to identify commercially available fabrics that could potentially replace the current 65/35 polyester/cotton broadcloth fabric used in the production of the Army's issue dress shirts. This effort aims to evaluate new fabric options for a possible future wear test but does not constitute a formal solicitation at this time. Interested companies are invited to submit two yards of fabric produced in the U.S. from U.S.-made fibers, though the specific fiber content is not mandated. The fabric must be suitable for dress shirts, but no color requirements are currently specified. Submissions must include detailed information about the fabric, such as its name, care instructions, fiber blend, place of manufacture, typical uses, pricing, and any other relevant details. Companies are encouraged to also provide brochures or booklets displaying different swatches and fabric blends. Should a fabric be selected for further testing, manufacturers must be capable of supplying the necessary yardage quickly to support the wear test. All samples and accompanying information must be mailed by February 15, 2002, to the designated address at Natick Soldier Center. Only written responses will be accepted; telephone inquiries are not permitted.
