The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to issue a sole source purchase order under Simplified Acquisition procedures to Dow Jones Reuters Business Interactive LLC to purchase 50 search and retrieval user licenses and 3,500 reader licenses to all titles on Factiva.com for one year. The Factiva.com subscription includes 50 licenses for password-holder access to search and retrieve from 14,000 sources from 159 countries and available in 22 languages, including more than 2,100 newspapers, for same-day and archival coverage of the world's most influential newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, South China Morning Post, The Times, and the Financial Times, more than 3,500 magazines, including general business titles and the industry publications for knowledge-driven markets, including The Economist, Finanz und Wirtschaft, Satellite News, and Computerworld, more than 5,500 business and industry publications, more than 500 newswires for breaking news from Dow Jones, Reuters and the Associated Press, as well as PR Newswire, M2 Presswire and other regionally focused and industry newswires, and more than 280 media programs transcripts from the BBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox. The reader licenses are necessary to satisfy SSA's requirements for reproducing and distributing content from Factiva.com and will enable the SSA Press Office to distribute news stories from Factiva.com via the agency's daily news digest. Factiva.com is used by the Office of Communications to monitor media coverage of SSA and its programs. Agency components at headquarters and at the regional and field offices rely on the daily news digest to assist with customer relations and community affairs-related activities. The period of performance is for 12 months, beginning October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. This subscription is only available from its producer/manufacturer and not through dealers or distributors. Dow Jones Reuters Business Interactive LLC is the only source for this subscription service. This is an announcement of SSA's intent to issue an order to Dow Jones Reuters Business Interactive LLC for the Factiva.com subscription; SSA will not issue a solicitation. SSA will not respond to requests for solicitation copies and will not pay for information received in response to this announcement. Responses must provide sufficient information for SSA to determine that a firm other than Dow Jones Reuters Business Interactive LLC can provide the subscription as described above. If SSA does not receive an acceptable response to this announcement within 3 days of its publication, it will issue a purchase order to Dow Jones Reuters Business Interactive LLC for the Factiva.com subscription. Respondents should refer to Factiva.com Subscription.
