The Falls Beach Day Use project, managed by the Sierra National Forest under the Department of Agriculture, involves the reconstruction of a day use area on the Bass Lake Ranger District. The scope of work includes the creation of eight recreational units, consisting of six single sites and one double site. Key construction elements include the development of roads, parking lots, and an accessible trail system made of concrete and hardened aggregate. Additionally, the project requires the installation of a four unit comfort toilet station with full electrical and plumbing, as well as the provision of asphalt paving, curbs, fire grills, tables, and trash bin enclosures. Demolition requirements include the removal of existing toilet facilities, fire rings, concrete tables, and above ground faucets. Because the project is located in an archaeologically sensitive area of historical significance, a Cultural Resource Monitor must observe all construction operations. The government estimate for the project is between 500,000 and 1,000,000 dollars, with work estimated to begin in September 2009. Coordination for site visits is handled through designated personnel, and the contract is overseen by Contracting Officer Patrick J Gallegos.
