The Female Body Armor (FBA) effort will provide female Security Forces (SF) defenders with a modular, scalable body armor system that will provide levels of protection against fragmenting munitions, handgun, and small arms threats (with the use of hard armor inserts that are not purchased as part of this effort). The FBA initiative is a four tier system that allows the commander to tailor the female Defender's protective level for different mission profiles, while allowing the female Defender to adjust the fit to accommodate physical characteristics and better integrate with existing gear. It will include hard armor protection of vital organs (heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys) and soft armor protection of the torso and extremities (neck, shoulders, groin, and knee and elbow joints).

Next Generation One-Person Life Raft Modernization
Solicitation # FA8606-26-R-5001
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Human Systems Division is conducting a market assessment to identify capable sources for the Next Generation One-Person Life Raft Modernization. This initiative aims to replace a 46-year-old legacy raft with a modern flotation system capable of supporting an isolated person for 14 days. A primary objective of the modernization is to significantly reduce the packed volume of the raft by 35 to 50 percent compared to the legacy LRU/16P, thereby increasing space and weight margins within seat survival kits to accommodate additional survival components and reduce maintenance. Technical requirements include durability for 5th to 95th percentile users, rainwater collection, sea anchor capabilities, and IR signature management. The government is seeking Rough Order of Magnitude cost estimates for approximately 2,000 production units and 30 ruggedized training units, as well as costs for technical manuals and a Technical Data Package to ensure future competitive procurement. This Sources Sought Synopsis is used for market research to determine the acquisition strategy and potential for a small business set-aside under NAICS code 314999. Interested parties must provide company identifiers, socioeconomic status, and feedback on their ability to meet the System Requirements Document specifications. Responses are limited to 20 pages and must be submitted to the primary point of contact by October 22, 2026.
