The U.S. Air Force, through the 423rd SCMS Requirements Office at Tinker Air Force Base, is conducting market research to identify potential suppliers for the new manufacture of a fire extinguisher with NSN 1680-01-595-4096JY and part number 472555-4, intended for use on the C-17 aircraft platform. This effort, documented under Notice ID FD20302700135, is a Sources Sought Synopsis under FAR Part 10 and is not a solicitation or binding commitment; no funds are currently available, and no contract will be awarded based on responses. The requirement calls for vendors capable of full-scale production including component procurement, inspection, testing, packaging, shipping, and management of supply chain risks such as diminishing manufacturing sources and long-lead components. Nonrecurring engineering costs may apply for qualification as an approved source, with an estimated requirement of 66 units, ranging from a minimum of 17 to a maximum of 99. The government is seeking input from all types of businesses, including small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, 8(a) firms, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, HUBZone businesses, and women-owned small businesses, to determine if the requirement can be competitively sourced or set aside for small business participation. The North American Industry Classification System code is 336413, with a size standard of 1,250 employees, and the Federal Stock Class is 1680. Responses must be submitted through the designated email, 423scms.guea.workflow@us.af.mil, and prospective vendors must select the “ADD ME TO INTERESTED VENDORS” button to be considered. The deadline for responses is August 12, 2026, and all dates and times are based on Central Standard Time. The place of performance is designated as Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and the government will use the gathered information solely to shape the future acquisition strategy, potentially breaking out requirements by airframe if warranted.
