A cooperative event known as Vendor Day is being organized by several military medical logistics agencies stationed at Fort Detrick, Maryland, including the Defense Medical Standardization Board, U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency, Naval Medical Logistics Command, Air Force Medical Evaluation Support Activity, and Air Force Medical Logistics Office. This event offers medical equipment and supply vendors a chance to showcase their products relevant to designated categories to multiple service organizations simultaneously. Vendor participation is limited to 20 vendors per date and requires prior registration with the event coordinator, specifying the products to be displayed. The event will take place in the Hotdome at Fort Detrick, with vendors responsible for bringing their own exhibit equipment and materials. There are no scheduled formal demonstrations, allowing interested parties to view products informally during designated time slots. Importantly, vendor participation does not imply product approval by any military service, and vendors must not advertise such approval. The Vendor Day planning committee, composed of representatives from the involved agencies, manages logistics, venue arrangements, scheduling, and communications, retaining the right to modify event details as needed. Power usage is limited to 5 amps per vendor, reflecting venue constraints. Vendors must send a government sales representative and ensure that their products are suitable for extreme environments. The initial scheduled Vendor Day event focuses on medical and surgical consumables on December 10, 2006, with Frank Boals as the point of contact. For general inquiries, Lt. Col. Kimberly Smith serves as the primary liaison. This event aims to facilitate a consolidated and efficient presentation of products pertinent to medical logistics in austere military settings.
