The Fort William Historical Park Roof Replacement project, managed by the Government of Ontario's Tourism, Culture and Gaming agency, requires the complete removal and off-site disposal of existing roofing materials. The contractor must install premium-grade, fire-rated, 24-inch clear heartwood cedar shakes using stainless steel ring-shank nails, strictly prohibiting the use of staples. The installation must include a ventilated roof underlayment system, such as Cedar Breather or an approved equivalent, along with 15 lb. cool grey underlayment, all adhering to manufacturer specifications and building codes. A critical requirement of the contract is the preservation of the buildings' historic character, meaning the shake exposure, coursing, and installation patterns must match the existing configuration. This solicitation, referenced as PR_5447, was posted on September 21, 2026, with a response deadline of October 14, 2026. The project is located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and is overseen by procurement contact May Liu.
