FY24-MDoa-24-04 / R00Bxxx MDoA Durable Medical Equipment Delivery Program

Many residents of Maryland require the use of durable medical equipment (“DME”), such as wheelchairs, home hospital beds, shower chairs, and other assistive devices to maintain their safety and mobility. Often the cost of this equipment is a serious burden, not only to uninsured residents, but also to insured residents whose insurance will not approve the equipment needed or whose approval is delayed. To address this need, the Maryland Department of Aging (“MDoA” or “Department”) has developed an innovative statewide program, Maryland Durable Medical Equipment Re-Use (“MDMER”), that provides durable medical equipment to Maryland residents in need. The program collects gently used DME, sanitizes and repairs items as needed, and provides them back to Maryland residents. The program serves Marylanders with any illness, injury, or disability, regardless of their age, at no cost.
