FY26-DOEE-USA-Climate Ready DC Update & Implementation

The District of Columbia’s Department of Energy and Environment is preparing to award a contract to support an equity-centered update to the Climate Resilience Data Collection (CRDC) and to initiate early implementation steps toward enhancing climate readiness across the District. This effort aims to ensure that climate resilience strategies are informed by and centered on the needs of historically underserved and disproportionately impacted communities, integrating community input, data equity, and inclusive planning practices into the modernization of the CRDC framework. The initiative will lay the groundwork for more accurate, representative, and actionable climate data to guide future infrastructure, policy, and funding decisions. Early implementation phases will include developing methodologies for collecting and analyzing community-level vulnerability data, designing tools and processes to integrate social equity metrics into climate risk assessments, and establishing pathways for public engagement and transparent reporting. The work supports broader goals under Climate Ready DC to build adaptive capacity and reduce systemic disparities in exposure to climate hazards. While the solicitation has not yet been issued, this forecast signals the agency’s intent to engage qualified partners by mid-2026 to deliver technical, analytical, and community engagement services critical to advancing climate equity in the District.
