FY27 COMMONWEALTH NONPROFIT SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM

The FY27 Commonwealth Nonprofit Security Grant Program, administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, provides one-time competitive funding to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, including faith-based institutions and healthcare facilities. The program is designed to help these entities acquire and install security technology and equipment to protect staff, members, and visitors from acts of violence, such as hate crimes or terrorist attacks. Eligible expenses are limited to physical security enhancements and inspection and screening systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, security fencing, lighting, and emergency first aid equipment. Each application is capped at a maximum award of 75,000 dollars. The grant follows a competitive peer-review process where applications are scored based on need, project description, budget detail, implementation feasibility, and application clarity. First-time awardees scoring 80 or higher are prioritized for funding, with remaining funds allocated to the highest-ranking previously funded applicants. The performance period runs from January 2027 through August 31, 2027, and funds are designated as use or lose, meaning all goods must be procured and installed within this window. Applications must be submitted via the online Cognito portal by November 20, 2026, and must include a specific Budget Excel Workbook as Attachment A.
