GA1735180 - Replacement of Bridge No. 1102400 on US 219 (Garrett Hwy) over the Youghiogheny River.

The project involves the complete replacement of Bridge No. 1102400 on US 219 (Garrett Highway) over the Youghiogheny River, featuring a new single-span galvanized steel beam structure measuring 55 feet in length. The new bridge will have a roadway width of 32 feet, accommodating two 11-foot travel lanes and 5-foot shoulders. The scope includes removing the existing bridge, installing steel H-piles, and realigning the Youghiogheny River near the site. Additionally, the project encompasses constructing a new roadway segment to connect the realigned US 219 and Mount Pleasant Road, followed by the removal of the old roadway once the new section is operational. Stream restoration, stormwater management features such as swales and a submerged gravel wetland, and pavement work—including milling, resurfacing, wedge and level, and full-depth reconstruction—are also part of the plan. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge and roadway, with temporary signals and a temporary road to facilitate tie-ins and ensure continuous traffic flow. The project is designated as a Cost-Loaded Type C – CPM Complex Project, requiring adherence to a detailed schedule outlined in the special provisions.
