Gantry Fabrication

The Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority (RMTA), a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is seeking a qualified Gantry Manufacturer for the fabrication and erection of a 180-foot clear span galvanized steel toll gantry. This project is part of RMTA's efforts to convert the Powhite Parkway to an All-Electronic Toll (AET) collection system, enhancing the safety and efficiency of transportation facilities in the Richmond metropolitan area. The selected manufacturer will need to adhere to the 2015 AASHTO Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) standards for the gantry structure, ensuring it is watertight and compliant with all relevant codes and ordinances. Additionally, as part of the contract, the manufacturer is required to provide detailed engineering drawings, deliver and erect the structure at the designated Powhite Parkway site, and integrate equipment-mounting plates for toll collection devices. The contract stipulates that the project must be completed within a 25-week period following the execution date, and all work will occur at the Powhite Parkway in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to the fabrication and installation responsibilities, the contract mandates the development of a comprehensive Safety Plan covering all phases of the work, including transport and installation. Moreover, the gantry manufacturer must maintain records of design reviews, inspections, test results, and any nonconforming materials for at least five years after the project is accepted. With an estimated project value ranging from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000, this solicitation reflects RMTA's commitment to modernizing its infrastructure to support safer and more efficient toll collection methods.
