GCS3000 Preventive Maintenance

This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. The National Institute of Health, Clinical Center (CC) intends to award a Fixed Price Purchase Order to Affymetrix, Inc. Santa Clara, CA 95051 on a sole source basis to procure preventive maintenance services in regards to the GCS3000 and other microarray analyzers located at the National Institutes of Health's Clinical Center, Department of Transfusion Medicine. Affymetrix, Inc is the manufacturer of the GCS3000 and it is imperative that it be maintained by this company to insure reproducibility in on-going experiments. Replacement parts and accessories must be compatible with existing equipment. Affymetrix, Inc offers an extremely specialized genomics technology at the high end of the bio-technology industry. In addition, Affymetrix has a small base in comparison to larger bio-tech companies. Affymetrix offers a dedicated, internally trained field service team that is strategically and geographically placed to provide service coverage for all installed base personnel. The personnel is committed to ensuring that customers are up and running as quickly as possible with the shortest amount of downtime. If we select another company other than Affymetrix, Affymetrix will not be held responsible for instrument and the components repaired by other companies. This is a continuation of services from the previous purchase order HHSN269201400947P. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the acquisition of commercial items prescribed in FAR Part 12 in conjunction with the policies and procedures for the competition requirements in FAR Part 6. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing this posting number, may be submitted to the CC, Office of Purchasing and Contracts, prior to the closing date specified in this announcement, electronically to the attention of Ivan Jones, Contract Specialist, ivan.jones@nih.gov by the due date and time marked in this notice.
