This contract encompasses critical preservation and construction work at two National Park Service historic sites: George Washington Birthplace National Monument in Colonial Beach, Virginia, and Thomas Stone National Historic Site in Port Tobacco, Maryland. The scope includes 100% non-selective repointing of mortar joints on the Memorial House and Colonial Kitchen at GEWA, along with the installation of half-round gutters and downspouts, and at THST, the complete replacement of the existing corrugated metal roof with a new hidden-fastener standing seam metal roof, complemented by 20 oz. copper 6-inch reverse bead seamless gutters and 3-inch plain round downspouts. All mortar work must be analyzed by a qualified laboratory to match the original color and texture, with joints brush-finished to preserve historic integrity. Only 20 oz. copper is permitted for gutters, with 16 oz. copper and soldered joints explicitly prohibited. Work must be performed within strict hours—7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday—with no work allowed on weekends or federal holidays without 72-hour prior approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative. The total period of performance is 120 days, running from August 1, 2026, to November 30, 2026.
