Geotechnical Investigation for the Bayside Community Resiliency Project

The City of Imperial Beach is seeking a geotechnical field investigation to support the engineering and design of the Bayside Community Resiliency Project in Imperial Beach, California. The scope of work involves the completion of 10 geotechnical borings and 21 Cone Penetration Test soundings, with depths ranging from 30 to 100 feet. Fieldwork is scheduled to take place over approximately one month, from September 15 to October 10, 2025. The project requires the City of Imperial Beach to issue a Special Use Permit and the Port of San Diego to provide a Right of Entry permit and Conditional Project Approval. Operational requirements mandate that work be performed on weekdays during normal business hours and must occur outside of the avian nesting season. The contractor must adhere to strict environmental and cultural protections based on the Bore Site Rare Plant Survey Results from November 2024 and the Archaeological Resources Management Report from March 2025. Additionally, any closures of multi-use paths require signage one week in advance, and paths must remain open during weekends and weekday mornings and evenings. Equipment staging will be located at the City of Imperial Beach Public Works Yard, and no on-site rig staging is required as borings will be conducted one at a time.
