AI Contract Overview

The Government intends to procure glass partitions, also known as architectural walls, on a brand name basis due to additional market research indicating that alternative products are incompatible with the existing system in use since 2003. These partitions will be used for new installations and to reconfigure existing ones, highlighting the necessity for standardization and compatibility with the current modified version of Krueger International's Genius Architectural Wall system. The modifications relate mainly to product dimensions and are commercially available. The anticipated solicitation release date is around April 20, 2011, with the contract featuring an approximate minimum value of $10,000 and set aside under the 8a competition. The acquisition process will consider vendor responses to determine whether a competitive procurement is warranted, although the Government retains full discretion not to compete the contract. Vendors capable of providing the specified glass partitions are encouraged to submit their capability information by April 11, 2011, to the designated points of contact within the Department of Homeland Security. The contract is managed by the Contracting and Procurement office, with specific officers identified to facilitate communication and coordination.

Full Description

The purpose of this change to the presolicitation notice is to advise that: 1) It is the Government's intention to procure its requirement for glass partitions on a brand name basis as the result of additional market research conducted that indicates alternative solutions are incompatible with the system currently in use by the Government, 2) The release date of the solicitation is anticipated to be on or about April 20, 2011, 3) Points of contact are updated, and 4) The approximate minimum value of the IDIQ is anticipated to be $10,000. The purpose of the proposed acquisition is to acquire glass partitions (also referred to as architectural walls) for both new installations as well as reconfiguration of existing installations the Government has undertaken since 2003. Due to the requirement to possess the capability to reconfigure existing installations (supplementation of existing equipment and materials) and that standardization of architectural elements is an essential requirement, the use of a brand name description in the acquisition is essential to the Government's requirements, thereby precluding consideration of a product manufactured by another company. The current system in use is a modified version of Krueger International's Genius Architectural Wall system. Modifications are of a type customarily available in the commercial marketplace and are primarily related to product dimensions. A detailed listing of all current applicable part numbers and their associated nomenclature is attached to the notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any vendor that believes they can provide these items can e-mail their company's capability information to BOTH the points of contact listed herein. Responses must be received by 1:00 PM local time on April 11, 2011.
