Goleta Sanitary District (GSD) owns and operates the Goleta Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) located at One William Moffett Place, near the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport, in an unincorporated coastal area of Santa Barbara County, California. In order to achieve its long-term goal of energy neutrality and enhanced energy resilience, GSD proposes to install and operate a solar microgrid and battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Goleta Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) in Goleta, Santa Barbara County, California. The proposed microgrid system includes 807 kW of solar arrays (comprising approximately 45,680-square-feet), a 1,632 kWh/408 kW 4-hour Eos Z3 battery cube on a newly constructed 900-square-foot concrete pad, and approximately 600 feet of electrical ductbank routing. The solar installation, comprised of 1,552 photovoltaic modules, would be installed in three separate areas throughout the WRRF. The proposed system is expected to generate 1,414,000 kWh annually for the WRRF, meeting approximately 36% of its electrical needs.
