AI Contract Overview

The City of Danville is soliciting proposals for a Grade Crossing and Rail Consolidation Study to address significant traffic and safety issues caused by train traffic at five at-grade crossings on Main Street, Voorhees Street, and Bowman Avenue. These crossings currently contribute to roadway congestion, delayed emergency response times, and safety hazards for both motorists and non-motorized travelers. The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the feasibility of grade separations, rail consolidation, or a hybrid approach to improve community quality of life. The selected consultant will perform detailed data analysis to produce a benefit-cost ratio, ensuring the proposed project meets the requirements for large US DOT grant programs, which typically necessitate a ratio greater than 1.0. Additionally, the study will assess which alternatives are most acceptable to local stakeholders. This solicitation was posted on March 24, 2025, with a response deadline of April 21, 2025.
