HM4-TMS Equipment Replacement (03-4G190)

Caltrans District 3 is preparing to replace one Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera, three Changeable Message Signs (CMS), and four Traffic Monitoring Detection Stations (TMDS) across multiple locations on State Routes 99, 51, 50, 267 and Interstates 5 and 80. These upgrades are intended to address eight chronic traffic monitoring sites that are outdated and no longer meet current operational standards, with the goal of enhancing traffic flow monitoring and improving safety across the identified corridors. The project will utilize modern sensor technology to enable continuous, real-time traffic data collection and incident management without requiring any soil disturbance or civil work, focusing solely on electrical installation and system integration. All work is confined to equipment replacement at existing infrastructure sites, ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding environments and traffic operations. The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to modernize Caltrans’ traffic management infrastructure and support efficient congestion relief in key transportation corridors throughout California.
