The contract seeks to identify qualified parties interested in conducting a detailed biological inventory and comparative analysis of sinkhole biomass and fauna within the Hoosier National Forest in Indiana. The project involves comprehensive field surveys to document the physical characteristics of sinkhole habitats, followed by quantitative analysis of collected organisms including gastropods, millipedes, spiders, and terrestrial isopods, with species-level identification. Additionally, the study will measure environmental variables such as temperature and humidity profiles, assess canopy disturbance levels, and culminate in a thorough written report detailing the data, analysis, and conclusions derived from the research. Currently, the Forest Service is aware of only one expert capable of performing this work and is considering a sole-source award, but this Request for Information aims to explore potential other qualified parties. Interested individuals or organizations are requested to submit their qualifications by June 11, 2015, to Roger Manning at the Hoosier National Forest. This initiative falls under the Department of Agriculture and is categorized under NAICS code 541690. The contract is administered from Bedford, Indiana, with point of contact information and further details available through the specified contact channels.

The purpose is to find out if there are qualified interested parties for a Biological Inventory and Comparative Analysis of Sinkhole Biomass and Fauna on the Hoosier National Forest, Indiana. Currently the Hoosier NF is aware of only one person with the expert knowledge and capabilities to perform this function and is contemplating a sole-source award. The purpose of the project is to conduct field surveys and document physical characteristics of sinkhole habitats within the Hoosier National Forest. Also, the study will include comparison of temperature/humidity profiles at each sinkhole, indexing each location relative to the level of canopy disturbance, and preparation of a final written report containing all data collected, quantitative and comparative analysis performed, and conclusions derived from analysis of the collected data. Interested parties are asked to submit their interest and personnel qualifications to: Roger Manning, Hoosier NF at: rkmanning@fs.fed.us no later than June 11, 2015.
