AI Contract Overview

The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price purchase order to Illumina, Inc. for three HumanMethylation450 DNA Analysis BeadChip Kits, each containing 48 samples. This procurement, identified by solicitation number 1148698, is conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures due to the critical need for compatibility with the existing iScan Illumina System. The government determined that using a different manufacturer would result in unusable consumables and jeopardize the analysis of over 300 kidney samples. The kits must be delivered to Jefferson, Arkansas, within 30 days after the receipt of the order. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. While intended as a sole source award, the FDA allowed for the submission of capability statements from other firms that could provide clear evidence of technical comparability and seamless integration with the current iScan system. Payment terms are set at net 30 days following government acceptance of the supplies.
