The following two questions have been received from potential bidders. Please respond as soon as possible to me so that I can respond in the form of an amendment to the solicitation. Question 1: In reviewing the above noted solicitation I have discovered discrepancies and / or conflicts in the requirements for this project. Please provide clarification of which item should take precedence and provide the basis for our bid. 1) B.2 Supplies Prices and Costs This matrix requests CLIN 0001 "Solid floor panels, Tate ConCore 2500 access floor panel with 1/16 ST61 IT ..." The panel named has a concentrated load rating of 2500 pounds. 2) C.2.4 Concentrated Load Strength This paragraph states "A concentrated load of 1500 pounds..." This is in direct conflict with the concentrated load listed above. The uniform, rolling and impact loads in section C are consistent with a ConCore 2500 panel. It appears that the Concentrated load listed in C.2.4 may be a typographic error, but I would appreciate written confirmation prior to submitting a firm price. Answer to Question 1: C.2.4 contains a typographical error. It should read "A concentrated load of 2500 pounds..." Question 2: I have reviewed the above solicitation and believe that you may be replacing exisiting raised floor panels. If that is the case, please consider our On-Site re-surfacing service as a "Green" and fiscally more responsible approach. Each panel we are able to return to service reduces energy use by the btu equivalent of 2.6 bbls of oil, generates @ .86 manhours for local labor and saves up to 80% of the cost of purchasing and installing a new raised floor panel. Answer to Question 2: No. There are (3) problems we have with pursuing this option. The first is that the existing tiles are 40 years old and have wooden core and will not meet the concentrated load requirements of today's high-density applications. The second is that we have a zinc whisker problem with the existing tiles that can only be resolved by replacing them. The final problem is that the structural grid underneath the tiles is rusted through and will also be replaced. There is no guarantee that the old tiles will fit properly onto the new grid structure.
