IBIS® BRASSTRAX™ Acquisition Station and IBIS® MATCHPOINT™ Analysis Station

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has issued a notice of intended decision to award a single source contract to Forensic Technology Inc. for the acquisition of IBIS BRASSTRAX Acquisition Stations and IBIS MATCHPOINT Analysis Stations. Valued at 1.5 million dollars, this procurement provides essential forensic chemical workstations used for high-resolution ballistic imaging and analysis. These systems are critical for identifying potential matches in firearm-related crimes by interfacing seamlessly with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) National Integrated Ballistics Information Network (NIBIN), which is the only interstate automated ballistic imaging network in the United States. This non-competitive award is justified under Florida Statute 287.057 because Forensic Technology Inc. is the sole manufacturer of this proprietary technology, making it the only solution compatible with the NIBIN system. The equipment will be delivered and installed at FDLE facilities within the state of Florida to enhance public safety and crime investigation capabilities. Because this is a single source procurement, there were no competitive evaluation factors or formal proposal requirements. Interested parties were provided a window to contest the decision by October 1, 2025, in accordance with Florida administrative procedures.
