IFB R-26057 Shade Structure Services

The Los Angeles Unified School District is seeking qualified contractors through an Invitation for Bids (IFB R-26057) to provide Shade Structure Services districtwide, with the primary scope involving the fabrication, delivery, and installation of DSA-approved shade structures at various school sites on an as-needed basis. The most common configuration is a 30' x 40' four-post hip structure with a 15-foot maximum entry height, though other sizes and ancillary services such as concrete cutting, crane rental, and utility locators are also included in a unit rate schedule. The award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder based on the lowest average unit cost for the three most commonly used line items on the rate schedule, with cash discounts included in the evaluation. All pricing must encompass labor, including Department of Industrial Relations prevailing wage rates, overhead, profit, taxes, and all other costs. The contract includes a three-year initial term with two optional one-year extensions, and delivery is F.O.B. Destination, meaning the contractor is responsible for all transportation, drayage, packaging, and handling costs, which must be included in the unit price. All materials must be new, of good quality, and meet applicable city, county, state, and federal codes, with fabrication standards based on AISC 303 and welding compliance with AWS D1.1 and CBC Section 2204A.1. Contractors must provide fabrication inspection documentation, submit Safety Data Sheets with all deliveries, and ensure structures are ADA accessible. A performance and payment bond equaling 100% of each purchase order is required, issued by a surety with at least an A-VII rating from A.M. Best. Insurance requirements include commercial general liability, business automobile liability, and workers’ compensation coverage.
