Ignatius Field Lighting Project

St. Ignatius College Preparatory School completed the St. Ignatius Field Lighting Project in November 2021 with the installation of four 90-foot-tall LED light standards at J.B. Murphy Field, enhancing athletic facility lighting capabilities. In August 2023, a wireless telecommunications services facility was added to the northwest light standard, integrating communication infrastructure into the existing structure. The project also expands evening operations by extending use of four existing 40-foot-tall lights at the upper practice field, permitting athletic activities to continue until 9:30 p.m. on up to 135 evenings per year and until 10:00 p.m. on up to 15 evenings annually. The project is situated in San Francisco, California, with the City and County of San Francisco overseeing the initiative through its planning and environmental review processes. Primary point of contact for the project is Don Lewis, Senior Planner, with St. Ignatius College Preparatory School serving as the applicant and Peter Mye acting as the environmental consultant.
