1. Definition of the requirement: Culturally appropriate interventions are the role and responsibility of the Indigenous Initiatives Directorate of the Correctional Services of Canada (CSC) that has a mandate to create partnerships and strategies that enhance the safe and timely reintegration of Indigenous offenders into the community. CSC works with Indigenous communities both rural and urban, throughout the country to increase the role that communities play in the reintegration process. The work will involve the following: 1.1 Objectives: The term "Interpreter" means a person that is responsible for listening to, understanding, and interpret spoken or written statements from one language (Inuktitut) to another (French or English). Reproduce statements in another language for unique listening or reading audience. 1.2 Tasks: The Contractor must: • Provide in person Inuktitut to English/French interpretation services as required. (For Parole officers, Indigenous Community Development Officers Indigenous Liaison Officers, CSC Security staff and CSC Health services) • Provide in person Inuktitut English/French interpretation services when required for National Parole Board Hearings, • Provide virtual interpretation services to all CSC facilities in Quebec that have Inuit offenders. 1.2 Expected results: The Contractor must provide interpretation services required to remove barriers to communication between the Case Management Team, health professionals, security personnel and Inuit offenders.
