The Federal Air Marshal Service’s Facilities & Services Branch is seeking information regarding an upgrade to target systems in three indoor firing ranges. The project involves replacing existing Action Target systems which currently include twenty-five 90-degree turning pneumatic targets and four 120VAC-operated track runner targets. The upgrade will replace the 90-degree targets with new 180-degree turning targets that display both sides of a cardboard target to shooters, and the track runner targets will be updated with newer designs compatible with the existing computerized control system. Additionally, the current bobber-style targets with hit sensors must remain compatible with the upgraded system. The scope encompasses installation of all necessary infrastructure such as plumbing, electrical (both line and low voltage), mechanical, structural, and concrete components, as well as reinforcement or upgrades to existing structures and systems to support the new equipment. Any surfaces disturbed during installation will be patched and painted. This effort is currently a market research activity to gather industry input and does not constitute a request for proposal or guarantee funding or contract award. The government reserves the right to reject any submissions and may not provide feedback to respondents. A site visit is scheduled for interested parties at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City on February 5, 2009, with preregistration required due to security measures. The procurement is identified under solicitation number HSTS07-09-Q-00083 and managed by the Department of Homeland Security’s Contracting and Procurement office.
