The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is organizing an industry day on August 13, 2018, at its Headquarters in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, aimed at gathering input and conducting market research for the Electronic Baggage Screening Program (EBSP) Competitive Procurement 2 (CP2). This event targets vendors, including those from academia, private sectors, small businesses, non-profits, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, and National Laboratories, who have demonstrated expertise or innovative capabilities in checked baggage screening, particularly with Explosive Detection Systems (EDS). TSA intends to share its roadmap, refined requirements, and milestones for the EBSP Qualified Products List (QPL), which will identify qualified screening equipment for future procurements under updated guidelines to enhance aviation security and counter threats to civil transportation. Participation is limited to three attendees per vendor, all of whom must undergo a vetting process, and only vendors registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) can participate. Vendor participation is voluntary, with no government reimbursement for attendance or travel, and no solicitation is currently available for request. Access to TSA facilities for non-federal attendees requires sensitive personal information for security vetting, including date of birth and Social Security numbers for U.S. citizens and additional identification details for foreign nationals, all submitted securely via password-protected spreadsheets. A designated TSA employee will escort all visitors while on site, maintaining strict control over this sensitive data, which will be deleted after processing. Vendors must submit the required vetting information by July 30, 2018, to the specified TSA email address. The event provides an opportunity for vendors to align their technology solutions with TSA’s evolving security screening requirements and potentially qualify their products for the upcoming EBSP contracts. The TSA contracting officer overseeing the event is Evelyn S. Tyndell.
