USSOCOM continues to foster a culture that embraces and supports innovation in our research, development, and acquisition programs to meet the demanding needs of the Special Operator. To support USSOCOM's continued emphasis on innovation, SOF AT&L has established a venue called SOFWERX; an unclassified, open collaboration activity designed to bring non-traditional partners from industry, academia, and the government together to work on USSOCOM's most challenging problems. SOFWERX was established under a Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) with the Doolittle Institute. A PIA is an agreement between the government and an intermediary organization such as state and local governmental agencies and nonprofit entities operated by or on behalf of a state or local government to perform partnership intermediary services such as promotion of cooperative or joint activities with small business firms and educational institutions that need technology-related assistance. USSOCOM has vacancies for three - five energetic technical experts from industry to be Exchange Fellows in the SOFWERX innovation environment. Ability to work in a dynamic environment is a must. Desired Industry Exchange Fellowship positions: 1. Electro-Optics Engineer 2. Mechatronics Engineer 3. Biomedical Engineer 4. Software Engineer 5. Industrial Designer 6. Aeronautical Engineer Resume: Interested parties should submit a resume, five pages maximum, to IndustryFellow@socom.mil. Selection Criteria: The Government shall rate all candidates against the following criteria: - Minimum of seven years of engineering experience; - Current active practicing engineer; - Strength of resume; and - American citizen or a permanent resident alien. Those three to five candidates that are the most highly qualified candidates shall be invited to participate in this program. Schedule: All resumes must be submitted no later than 13 May 2016. Length of Fellowship: A Fellowship shall be for a period of not less than three months and not more than one year, and may be extended in three-month increments for a total of not more than one additional year by the SOF AT&L POC and private sector organizations. This extension may be granted in three-month increments not to exceed one year. Terms and conditions: Payment of Salary and Allowances: The private sector lending organization has full responsibility for payment of all salary, allowances, and any benefits (i.e. medical care, worker's compensation) to their employees participating in the exchange to include travel / relocation costs if the individual participant selected is outside of the local area. The private sector lending organization agrees to not charge the DoD or any other agency of the Federal Government, as direct or indirect costs under a Federal contract, the costs of any salary, allowances, or benefits paid to an employee placed at USSOCOM under this Agreement. Travel Expenses: The private sector lending organization has full responsibility for payment of all travel expenses associated with performance by the individual participant under this agreement.
