The contract seeks to consolidate Installation Support Services (ISS) requirements for Wake Island, King Salmon divert location, and Eareckson Air Station, Shemya, AK, into a single contract valued between $100 million and $250 million. The government is requesting industry input on the potential benefits and drawbacks of this consolidation, including cost savings, economies of scale, quality improvements, and the feasibility of managing services across these geographically dispersed locations. Additionally, feedback is sought on the implications of extending the contract period from five to seven years, the impact on small businesses, and whether a single contractor could effectively oversee the operations while reducing redundancies and waste. The request emphasizes the importance of understanding both the short-term challenges and long-term benefits, as well as addressing communication and management issues inherent in coordinating teams separated by large distances. This solicitation is designated as a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 561210 and is intended for market research purposes only, with no current solicitation or contract award planned based on the information gathered. Questions and information can be directed to designated contract specialists at the Department of Defense office in Alaska, with responses due by October 12, 2010.
