Full Description

In collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Zambia, USAID/Zambia intends to reduce malnutrition among children under five with a significant focus on stunting during the first 1,000 days of life. USAID/Zambia intends to pursue this goal through an integrated approach that incorporates agricultural production, livelihoods, nutrition and hygiene-related behaviors, access to clean water and sanitation and robust linkages between communities and health facilities for referrals and routine health care. This proposed approach is outlined in the USAID-Kusintha Statement of Objectives (SOO). While supporting a core-package of evidence-based interventions to reduce stunting, USAID/Zambia also intends to support a robust learning agenda through a separate solicitation for USAID- Kusintha Learning and Evaluation. The learning agenda is expected to include monitoring through annual surveys as well as randomized control trials and quasi-experimental designs to test the impact of promising interventions. This Request for Information (RFI) is two-fold. First, USAID/Zambia invites comments on the questions below from any interested party. Second, USAID/Zambia invites expressions of interest from organizations or consortia interested in competing for USAID-Kusintha or USAID-Kusintha Learning and Evaluation. These requests are distinct.
