This is a Notice for a Sole Source Source designation for Alachua County Board of County Commissioners.Commodity or Service Required:Purchase of Genesis Rescue System Tools and MaintenanceJustification for Single Source Acquisition:Rescue Systems Unlimited LLC is the sole supplier/distributor for products manufactured by Genesis Rescue Systems, Milwaukee 28V 5Ah battery, Genesis Air Lifting Bags, Kodiak Struts, and Quick-Kut Air Hammers in Florida and Georgia. They are the solely responsible for all sales, service, and training in Florida, South Alabama, and Georgia. At the end of 2020 a competitive evaluation was complete to evaluate the tools for use and determined Genesis Rescue extrication tools met the specific needs for the Fire Rescue Department. The Genesis Rescue extrication tools are: 1) all tools meet the stringent NFPA 1936 vertification. 2) Non-proprietary battery platform. 3) The batteries have a 3-year warranty from the manufacturer and an additional 2-year warranty from Rescue Systems Unlimited. 4) The tools have removable, adjustable handles that can be manipulated or removed to access small areas and reduce stress and fatigue on the operator. 5) The Genesis tools have a dead-man trigger control which is an added safety feature to keep the patient safe as well as the rescuer. 6) The bladder of the tools is protected by an aluminum housing inside the case to protect the contents of the bladder when performing, pushing, and pulling in extrication rescue scenarios. 7) Brush-less motors that allow for an enclosed housing without the need for vents to reduce wear and tear on internal components. 8) Cuter blades are forged instead of machined for increased strength as well as reducing the possibility of catastrophic failure and possible injuries to patients and rescuers. 9) Tools are rated for ultra-high strength steels included in new vehicle manufacturing. 10) Genesis Limited Lifetime Warranty on all tools. 11) 24-hour turnaround time for service or loaner tools. As Alachua County Fire Rescue has been utilizing Genesis Rescue System Tools since 2001 it is beneficial for the department to continue with their maintenance and additional purchases, if needed. Recommended Procurement Approach:For the reason stated above, Alachua County Procurement Division intends to utilize the Sole Source Procurement method to contract with Rescue Systems Unlimited LLCfor supplying the above.
