Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source:


The MCIEast Cherry Point Satellite Contracting Office, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Cherry Point, NC 28533, hereby gives notice of their intent to award a purchase order to Hawkins Inc, (Cage Code: 1YSA9) on a sole source basis in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(i), only one source reasonably available and no other supplies will satisfy agency requirements.


The MCAS Cherry Point, NC Industrial Water Treatment Plant has a requirement for process chemicals (polymers and defoamers) required for water treatment and production for a period of one (1) base year and two (2) option year.  After extensive engineering evaluation and studies, the products manufactured by Hawkins Inc. are the only products that have been tested and approved for water treatment at this facility. Therefore, the government intends to procure these chemicals on a sole source basis to Hawkins Inc.


THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which, if received within five (5) calendar days after the date of the publication of this notice will be considered. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses received as a result of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
