The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Tormach Inc for a Tormach PCNC 440 CNC milling machine, as it is the only known system that meets the government’s strict operational requirements. The machine must be compact, operate on standard 110V power, fit within existing laboratory space, integrate with current CAD software, and be user-friendly for non-machinist personnel. This procurement is justified under FAR 12.102(a) as a sole source action due to the unique suitability of the Tormach PCNC 440 for the agency’s research needs. The purchase is for supplies and not services, with performance to occur at the CDC’s facility in Atlanta, Georgia. This notice serves as an intent to proceed without competition, but all responses received by 10:00 AM EDT on July 24, 2026, will be reviewed to determine whether the sole source rationale remains valid. While no formal competitive solicitation is planned, submissions from interested parties may influence the government’s final decision on whether to pursue competition. Responses must be emailed to Denedra Hardy at qfa5@cdc.gov, and the solicitation number is 2026-98176. This action falls under NAICS code 333517 and does not utilize any set-aside program.
