Job Corps (JC) is an education and training program whose goal is to help disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16 and 24 enter living-wage employment, advanced education, training, apprenticeship, or the military. The program's major service components include basic reading and math skills, vocational/technical training, residential living, health care, health education, counseling, and job placement assistance. These comprehensive services are delivered at over 120+ operating Job Corps centers nationwide through a program structure that unites Federal and state agencies, private vendors, unions, and businesses. JC is administered by the United States Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, Office of Job Corps supported by national office staff and a field network of six regional offices (located in Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, and San Francisco), and data centers in Texas. Most Job Corps centers are operated by private-sector entities via government contracts, which prescribe the services and activities to be provided on each center and expected results of program intervention. Other Job Corps locations are operated by the United States Department of Agriculture's Forest Service in rural and remote locations -- mostly in the Western and Southern United States. Internet connectivity is delivered to each of the program's 120 campuses and support locations throughout the continental United States, Alaska, Hawai'i, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia by standard service agreements with local Internet Service Providers (ISPs) through business accounts. The availability of internet bandwidth varies greatly among the geographically diversified centers (urban, suburban, exurban, rural, and remote). The provision of the connectivity method also varies among locations (i.e., aerial/subterranean cabling, wireless/satellite, etc.). The National Office of Job Corps is conducting market research to identify the availability, and bandwidth speed*. (*This sentence has been amended to remove the request for pricing information.
