The project, which is located in Martin and Palm Beach Counties, Florida, will be divided into a base and one option. Work associated with the subject requirement will consist of maintenance dredging from the Intracoastal Waterway channel (IWW) in the vicinity of Jupiter and St. Lucie Inlets. These two areas are approximately 16 miles apart along the IWW channel. The area to be dredged at St. Lucie Inlet is referred to locally as the Crossroads because it is the junction of the IWW, Okeechobee Waterway (OWW), and the St. Lucie Inlet channels. The Jupiter Inlet portion of the project consists of maintenance dredging IWW CUT-P-1 through CUT-P-9. The excavated material will be placed in the beach placement area immediately south of Jupiter Inlet. The St. Lucie Inlet work consists of maintenance dredging IWW STA 190+00 CUT-M-1 through STA 5+00 CUT-M-6 and OWW CUT-OW-1. Excavated material will be placed in the St. Lucie inshore impoundment basin. Incidental work for both project areas will include endangered species monitoring, turbidity monitoring. Vibration monitoring and beach tilling will be required at the Jupiter Inlet beach site.

Notice of Intent to solicit a single source – Fish and Macroinvertebrate (Nekton) Monitoring (St. Johns River)
Solicitation # W912EP-27-Q-1CTH
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, intends to award a sole-source contract to the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The project focuses on nekton monitoring within selected zones and tributaries of the Lower St. Johns River in Northeast Florida. This effort is categorized under NAICS code 541620 for Environmental Consulting Services and is designed to assess the ecological impacts of a 2022 channel deepening project that increased the river depth to 47 feet to accommodate larger vessels for the Jacksonville Port Authority. The primary objective is to evaluate how changes in salinity and water quality resulting from the deepening affect the spawning, recruitment, and population dynamics of commercially and recreationally important species, such as blue crab, white shrimp, and red drum. Monitoring will specifically target critical habitats between river kilometers 14 and 48, as well as areas upstream of Julington Creek, to determine if shifting salinity gradients are impacting nursery habitats or resident freshwater species. This long-term sampling will provide the necessary data to gauge the overall environmental effects of the channel modifications on the estuary's nekton assemblages.
