Irvine Business Complex (IBC) Multi-Use Trail Creekwalk Segment Project

The Irvine Business Complex (IBC) Multi-Use Trail Creekwalk Segment Project, managed by the City of Irvine, involves the construction of approximately 1.75 miles of an off-street paved Class I shared-use path. The trail will run along the western edge of San Diego Creek and Peters Canyon Wash, extending from Coronado Drive in the south to Warner Avenue in the north. The design features a two-foot paved shoulder and an eight-foot paved trail for pedestrians and cyclists, complemented by a five-foot decomposed granite trail for equestrian use and a two-foot earthen bio-swale. Additionally, the project includes at-grade crossing improvements at the intersection of Coronado and Main Street. The project is subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), with a Notice of Determination approved on June 9, 2026, following a Mitigated Negative Declaration. Comprehensive environmental assessments have been completed, including a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment that found no recognized environmental conditions, as well as paleontological, cultural, and geotechnical investigations. The construction schedule is slated to begin on January 1, 2028, progressing through demolition, grading, and concrete paving in 2028, with asphalt paving continuing into February 2029. Technical modeling has been performed to ensure compliance with air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and noise and vibration thresholds.
