The contract involves the procurement of three units of a variable attenuator, identified by NSN 7H-5985-013552802 and TDP Version 005, to be delivered FOB origin to Kato Engineering Inc. in Mankato, Minnesota. This procurement action is a notice of intent rather than a solicitation for competitive quotations, as the Government plans to negotiate solely with the current source, citing insufficient or inadequate data to procure the part from alternative suppliers. However, interested parties may still express their interest and provide quotes before the award date, which the Government will consider, although it retains sole discretion regarding whether to proceed with competitive procurement. The contract is managed by the Navsup Weapon Systems Support Mech office, part of the Department of Defense, with administrative operations based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The action relates to repair or modification services for the variable attenuator, reflecting a requirements-driven approach likely centered on maintaining or updating existing defense hardware systems. The Government’s decision-making relies heavily on input received during this notification process, but the current intent is to continue working with Kato Engineering as the sole-source provider.
