AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement and repair/modification of AI compressor blades, specifically identified by NSN 7H-2840-015217940 with a quantity of 242 units to be delivered FOB origin to Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corp in Carson City, Nevada. This procurement action is governed by a sole-source negotiation under FAR 6.302-1, meaning the government intends to award the contract to a single source without competition due to the lack of rights or data ownership by the government, as well as the uneconomical nature of reverse engineering or purchasing the data rights needed for the part. The notice is not a solicitation for competitive proposals, though potential vendors may express interest or provide capability statements for consideration within specified time frames (45 days or 30 days if under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). The government emphasizes that the information gathered from responses will influence whether a competitive procurement will be pursued but retains full discretion over that decision. Commercial item procedures under FAR Part 12 do not apply here based on market research; however, suppliers may indicate their ability to meet the requirement with commercial items within 15 days. Interested parties are directed to obtain any necessary military and federal specifications, standards, or product listings primarily via DoD repositories such as DODSSP or ASSIST-Online. This opportunity is managed by the Navsup Weapon Systems Support in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, with contract solicitation number N0010419FJY00, posted as a presolicitation notice.
