The contract intends to award a sole source firm-fixed price agreement to Mowrey Elevator Company of Marianna, Florida, for maintenance and repair services on the Brasstown Bald elevator located in Blairsville, Georgia. The contract value is estimated at $50,000. Mowrey Elevator originally constructed the elevator and has been responsible for its preventive maintenance and inspections since its installation. Following the most recent inspection, the company recommended necessary component replacements and submitted a cost proposal for these repairs. Because Mowrey built and maintains the elevator, they possess unique qualifications and exclusive access to compatible parts required for effective repairs. This procurement is a non-competitive sole source award, as no other vendors are known to have the parts or capability to service this specific elevator model. As a result, no solicitation will be issued, and no competitive proposals will be solicited. The award decision is expected to occur around February 1, 2008, under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture’s Chattahoochee Oconee National Forest office in Gainesville, Georgia. The associated NAICS code for this contract is 333921, and the key points of contact include the purchasing agency representative Lucious Buffington and procurement technician Kimberly B. Carithers.
