The government plans to issue a sole source contract to connect the Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS) to new communications circuits and power sources at Fort Hood, Texas. This contract will involve completing the installation, performing necessary calibrations, conducting acceptance testing, and providing initial calibration training to the maintainers of the equipment. The award is being made under a limited sources procurement basis due to the proprietary nature of the ASOS hardware and software, which is manufactured exclusively by All Weather Inc. This procurement will not be competed because only one responsible source can meet the agency’s requirements. The 55th Contracting Squadron at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska is managing the acquisition, following the regulatory provision allowing contracts other than full and open competition. Interested parties cannot submit competitive proposals as this notice serves only as a formal announcement of intent to award. Questions regarding the contract should be directed in writing to SSgt Charles Cunningham via email or facsimile. The contract is associated with the NAICS code 334519 and falls under the Department of Defense’s jurisdiction. The designated contracting officer is Charles D. Jones, also based at Offutt AFB.
