AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of 13 units of a specific item identified by NSN 7R-5826-014782375-QF, with delivery terms FOB origin to Rockwell Collins Inc. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This procurement is being conducted under a sole-source negotiation process, as authorized by the Government, which intends to negotiate exclusively with the currently approved source due to the flight-critical nature of the item and the lack of adequate technical data to support competitive acquisition. Potential suppliers who are not currently government-approved must submit detailed technical data and source approval information as outlined in NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support brochures to be considered for future contracts. The government retains sole discretion in deciding whether to compete based on responses to this notice. Because the item is classified as flight-critical, new source approvals require significant time, which the Government cannot afford, hence the reliance on existing approved sources to meet urgent fleet support needs. Offers lacking full submission of source approval data will be disregarded. The solicitation, titled "J--Direction Finder SE, In Repair/Modification Of," was posted by the Department of Defense's Navsup Weapon Systems Support office in Philadelphia, with the primary goal of ensuring timely acquisition while maintaining rigorous source approval standards for this specialized equipment.
