AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of 26 electronic components under NSN 7R-5998-014838798-FX, intended for repair or modification, to be issued to Viasat Inc. in Carlsbad, California. Delivery is FOB origin, indicating the government assumes responsibility from the shipping point. The acquisition is planned through negotiation with a single approved source due to the flight-critical nature of the components and a lack of sufficient technical data to support open competition. The government does not currently have enough accurate or legible data to source the part elsewhere, and new source approval typically takes too long to accommodate project timelines. Potential suppliers who are not currently approved sources may submit quotations along with detailed technical data following NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support source approval requirements. Only offers accompanied by complete source approval documentation will be considered. If the government cannot process new source approvals in time to meet operational needs, the award will proceed with existing approved sources to support fleet requirements. This presolicitation notice, issued by the Department of Defense's Navsup Weapon Systems Support office in Philadelphia, serves to notify interested parties of the intent to negotiate exclusively with established sources unless compelling new source approval documentation is provided.
