This contract involves the procurement of 10 units of an electronic component (NSN 7R-5998-014844426-FX) in accordance with a specific reference number and is to be delivered FOB origin to Viasat Inc. in Carlsbad, California. The acquisition is intended to be sole-sourced, with negotiations planned exclusively with one approved supplier due to the item's flight-critical nature and the inadequacy of available technical data to support full and open competition. The government does not currently hold sufficient information to acquire this part from sources other than those already approved. Potential new sources must undergo and receive government source approval before award, submitting detailed technical data as outlined in NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support brochures to be considered. The solicitation encourages interested parties to demonstrate their capability and interest but clarifies that a decision not to compete is at the government's discretion. New source approval requests must accompany proposals with requisite documentation; otherwise, offers will not be considered. Should approval processes delay acquisition beyond required timelines, the government may proceed with the existing approved supplier to meet operational needs. The contract was posted by the Department of Defense’s Navsup Weapon Systems Support office in Philadelphia, PA, under solicitation number N0038314PG035, emphasizing the criticality of timely procurement and strict adherence to source approval regulations.
